Dinner at the Bite Me Burger Co. Pop Up in Holborn

I love foodie pop-ups and one of the newest to make its way to London is Bite Me Burger Co., which opened in Holborn last month in a temporary residency inside Hong Kong cafĂ© Cha Chaan Teng and will receive more pop-ups across London, including in Soho and in West London, throughout the summer – in addition to offering deliveries and catering. Bite Me Burger is the brain child of award-winning chef Adam Rawson who made a name for himself as the winner of the Slider Decider competition two consecutive years and, unsurprisingly, sliders are front and centre on the menu.

The miniature burgers are perfect for people like myself who can never decide on what to order as you can just  get two or three burgers and try a range of flavours! And that's exactly what I did on Wednesday when I had the chance to sample some of the delights on the menu.

Because they are mini burgers, you can order them in sets of two, a trio or even larger quantities if you're with a group so you can share. They're served super cute on wooden boards which have the shape of the burgers perfectly cut out. We each tried a trio, with a side of chips and a shake, and while delicious it was far too much for me to finish – so I recommend starting with a duo and a shake, and maybe order some fries if you're feeling especially hungry that night.

To try a real mixture of flavours, the burgers I choose were Beef Encounter (aged grilled beef patty, special burger sauce, American cheese, shredded lettuce, pickles), Lambtastic (lamb burger flavoured with mint, cumin, smoked yoghurt, jalapeno, stilton, aioli, watercress), and Pluck me (buttermilk fried chicken, yuzu mayo, shredded lettuce, pickles). Each of these can also be ordered as a vegetarian option where the meat is replaced by fried aubergine, which is great news for burger-lovin' veggies out there.

From the ones I tried the Beef Encounter was my favourite as the beef was beautifully medium rare and succulent and the 'secret' burger sauce the perfect addition to bring out the flavour in the meat juices. The Pluck Me was also very lush with a crunchy outside and soft inside, and while the Lambtastic was very well cooked and has some great spices within it, it was a tad too salty for me.

Surprisingly through, the star of the night for me was the peanut butter milk shake. I usually go for chocolate or Oreo and ended up with this one as a fluke, but man it was SO good. Creamy and nutty yet still very light and fresh, the perfect drink to balance the heaviness of the burgers.

Bite Me Burger Co. is currently located on 36-38 Kingsway, London WC2B 6EY and is open Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 10:30pm. Burgers come in Duo, Trio, Quad and Dozen with prices starting at £8.50 for two slides of choice.

Many thanks to Love Pop Ups London for the invite to visit Bite Me Burger Co. in exchange for an honest review.
