Moving a little more into lifestyle blogging I discovered the excellent The Bloggers Hangout a few months ago and I was thrilled when the invite to their Christmas Food Fest popped into my inbox. I always love discovering new brands and food is a particular passion of mine, so this was right up my alley. The event was held in a funky space in the East of London and I really enjoyed chatting to the passionate people behind all these wonderful products, and I'd like to share some of my favourite new discoveries below.
Wow Chia – This was the very first brand I spoke to and one of my favourites on the night. Combining cold pressed juice with chia seeds this created a really delectable and refreshing drink, that is super healthy too! I particularly loved the red version, which was made with watermelon and pomegranate.
JimJams – Who doesn't love Nutella?! But did you know that there are a ridiculous 75 cubes of sugar in EACH jar? Whereas JimJams (which tasted just as delicious and even felt a tad smoother in texture than Nutella) only contains the equivalent of 2 cubes of sugar. Needless to say, I am sold.
Nosh – Another drink, one bottle of Nosh provides a full breakfast on the go. It was super tasty and to me felt like a smoothie combined with softened muesli and yogurt. I also love the idea that you can have a full, sustainable breakfast on the go as I am sure I am not the only one who is often rushed for time in the morning and the bottle is small enough to pop into my bag and enjoy on the tube or at work.
Crafty Nectar – You may have noticed there were a lot of drinkable goodies at the event! Crafty Nectar is a subscription box (like Graze and Nibboxx) for cider, yum! I tried two ciders at their stand and there was a particularly light one from Hoxton that I instantly fell in love with.
Frill – Not an ice cream or a frozen yogurt, Frill is a delicious frozen smoothie! It tasted like a really good sorbet, only without the added sugar. And because it is dairy free it's perfect for vegans and those allergic to dairy as well. I tried the bursting berries flavour and nom nom nom.
Ragini's Mauritian Curry Powder – I love, love, love this brand. A husband-wife duo have set up this business creating an authentic Mauritian flavour in packages that comes with the recipe so it couldn't be easier to create a beautiful dish in your own kitchen. I got a sample package and I cannot wait to try it!
Dilly & Wolf Roasters – I am sure I am not the only one who loves snacking at work, but when trying to be healthy, carrots with hummus or apples can get a bit boring and this could be a perfect alternative. There are loads of different flavours and I've already tried the coconut and chilly roasted beans and seeds and it was delish.
Jools – I absolutely adore bubble tea but I know that with the massive amounts of sugar contents it's not exactly something I should have more regularly than on the occasional hot summer day. Jools looks like a great alternative, combining fruit and green tea with the unexpected awesomeness of the pearls I've come to love in bubble tea. Another one I cannot wait to try!
Cocoa by L – Chocolate is arguably the best tasting food out there, but not always very healthy when produced on a large scale or not ethically sourced. Cocoa by L is different and if the salted caramel variety I have tried (pictured in the right bottom corner) is anything to go by, this is one brand to look out for in the future!
Thank you very much to The Bloggers Hangout for organising this excellent event, I look forward to trying all the products I took home with me!
